Forgiveness

by BeLinda Magee

“I can forgive, but I cannot forget,” is only another way of saying, “I will not forgive.” A forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note, torn in two and burned up, so that it can never be shown against the man.
Henry Ward Beecher

Forgiveness is not always applied in our daily walk in spiritual matters. The continuous struggle of flesh vs. Holy Spirit leads the Christian believer to his/her weaker side sometimes. That is to say the flesh is the weaker side. 2 Corinthians Chapter 5, verse 17 sums up that one becomes a new creature in Christ if one has become a part of Christ Jesus. However, when offenses arise, the tendency to forgive does not garner practical applications in our lives.

Heavenly Father, may we seek you more to walk in the newness of life to forgive and love one other as stated in your Holy Word in the name of JESUS. Amen.

  1. One of the dead weight that keep people from living a success Christian life is the fact that they harbor a lot of resentment in their hearts. The Bible instructs us to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us {Heb 12:1}.
